  • Job Summary

    Wellmark’s Policy & Project Specialist will drive the management, coordination, and completion of corporate and strategic priorities for Network Administration by executing tactical or strategic projects and initiatives that are complex and cross-functional in design. This individual will help plan and implement large scope and high risk Network Administration policy changes and projects. Additionally, this individual will ensure business objectives and operational details are being met across all project initiatives by coordinating and executing strategies. Collaboration with stakeholders across the organization and within Network Administration to achieve stated objectives, measurable goals, and the delivery of initiatives will be critical to success in this role.

    Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

    • Bachelor’s Degree or direct and applicable work experience.
    • 4+ years of related work experience: 
      • Program or project management. Ability to ensure programs and projects meet quality, time, and stakeholder expectations while maintaining alignment with organizational and department strategy.
      • Demonstrated experience with policy research, development, and/or review.
      • Network Administration, credentialing and contracting experience preferred.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with varying levels of an organization.
    • Strong consulting, group facilitation, and interpersonal skills. Proven success building relationships, understanding the needs of others, asking meaningful questions, influencing stakeholder decisions, developing actionable solutions, and promoting collaboration and teamwork.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
    • Proactive self-starter with effective time management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize projects or tasks. Ability to manage timelines and competing priorities. Strong attention to detail.
    • Flexible and adaptable to change. Ability to lead others through change.

    Hiring Specifications Preferred

    • Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
    • Health insurance industry experience, including network administration, contracting, or credentialing.
    • Informal leadership skills gained through a combination of project or informal leadership that demonstrates knowledge of work processes, products and services, and leadership competencies.

    Job Accountabilities

    a. Drive the management, coordination, and completion of corporate and strategic priorities executing multiple tactical or strategic initiatives and projects that are complex and crossfunctional in design, along with the planning and implementation of large scope and high risk Network Administration policy changes and projects. Responsible for driving performance and delivery of business objectives across projects and the department. Work to form and maintain positive, interactive and multidisciplinary relationships resulting in the ability to influence decisions through informal leadership, while gaining the support of stakeholders.

    b. Establish and maintain effective partnership with project champions, project management and cross-functional project team members. Practices sound relationship management with project team and department members and stakeholders and is fully conversant with key techniques in team management.

    c. Keep Network Administration informed of new policy, system functionality and capabilities and partner on prioritization of implementation and enhancements. Recommend and implement policy and solution changes to business processes to enhance and better efficiencies for the department and division.

    d. Demonstrate the key drivers of policy and project management effectiveness meets deadlines, logically solves problems, passionate to succeed, recognizes and mitigates risks, aligns policy and project priorities to organizational strategy, connects initiatives and project priorities to organizational goals, leverages the talent and skills of right people on the right tasks, facilitates consensus among stakeholders, objectively evaluate team members, understands project interdependencies.

    e. In collaboration with project management, facilitate and evaluate the qualitative and quantitative analysis on complex business problems, and determine solutions and best practice to resolve both internal and customer issues. Identify, monitor and communicate critical business metrics to ensure project execution success.

    f. Serves as a change agent by applying knowledge and industry best practices. Assists in aligning change to achieve project objectives.

    g. May assist with vendor activities sourcing, contracting, and implementation of identified vendor involvement associated with the project.

    h. Support the integration of project and ongoing process roles to ensure ongoing operations will be successful postimplementation.
