    About the Career: In this role, you will schedule, coordinate, and manage IT releases across the enterprise for multiple applications across various Portfolios balancing 40+ projects/ACRs at any given time. The releases can be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades, projects, programs and business enhancements. This role will have primary responsibilities for release management activities in the data warehouse, API and Service technologies.  You will provide tools and services to help project teams manage and deploy releases into production. You’ll be responsible for process governance to ensure  standards are being followed, measured and reported. In addition, you are responsible for implementing and managing release processes for the progression of code in the development, test, pre-production and production environments. You will establish effective partnerships to collaborate daily with QES test leads, PMs, and Developers for prep and prod deployments and coordination of test cycles in lower environments for EDW and Gen 1 . You’ll also provide daily informal leadership to a couple of contract release managers on the team.

    Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or direct applicable work experience
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in release management and/or IT project management setting with understanding of all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
    • Proven ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, building collaborative relationships of trust and influencing others to act.  Ability to adjust communication based on audience up to and including senior leadership
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
    • Proven analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting experience
    • Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
    • Proven ability to be focused on results and how to best achieve them
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability/Interest to coach and mentor others

    Hiring Specifications Preferred

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Solid understanding of release management and/or project management fundamentals 
    • Prior vendor management experience
    • General understanding of Remedy and/or IT Ticketing systems

    Job Accountabilities

    a. Establish and maintain effective partnership with the business and IT leadership. Practices sound relationship management with business and IT stakeholders is fully conversant with key techniques in team management.

    b. Manage application activities related to releases and environments. Oversees integration of multiple sets pf scope/requirements and respective releases to ensure collaboration, quality, and timeliness.

    c. Coach and collaborate with other Release Managers.

    d. Lead and manage the coordination of multiple project and program release plans and schedules to ensure timeliness for completion, while actively collaborating with Project and Program Managers. Supports and follows IT operational procedures and standards.

    e. Facilitate review and discussion of upcoming release content to determine release plan for both internal and external impacts. Facilitates team to propose release solutions that align with the needs of the interrelated projects to gain efficiencies. Identify, monitor and communicate critical metrics to ensure release execution success.

    f. Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality.

    g. Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations.

    h. Coordinate release content and effort based on the enhancement backlog, project driven scope, third party dependencies, infrastructure dependencies and breakfix needs.

    i. Communicate all key release plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes.

    j. Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations. Including communications regarding release details and schedules to the Business as required.

    k. Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/NoGo reviews.

    l. Negotiate, plan and manage all release activities.

    m. Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.

    n. Creates and maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.

    o. Researches new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management need.

    p. Communicate scheduled releases to impacted projects and/or business owners.

    q. Other duties as assigned.
