  • Job Summary

    About the Career: In this role, you will oversee and lead the planning, development and deployment and management of telecommunication technical solutions. You will collaborate and work with other technical teams, providing subject matter expertise and insights. You will ensure that service level agreements are being met and solutions delivered supporting Wellmark business strategies. In this role, you will be integral to the success of our migration to the cloud.  Responsibilities will be primarily developing and implementing solutions supporting application migration to cloud, however on premises support will also be required.

    Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

    • Bachelor's Degree or direct and applicable work experience
    • Minimum  of 7 years experience in the following:
      • Telecommunication architecture design and operations with an emphasis on network design, project planning within enterprise wide data communications
      • Telecommunications security with a focus on external and internal communications
      • Experience utilizing enterprise level telecommunications reporting, management tools and applications
      • Designing and managing enterprise network solutions that leverage:
        • Amazon Web Services (AWS) connectivity and solution experience
        • Microsoft Azure connectivity and solution experience
        • Cisco Nexus Data Center Solutions
        • Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls
    • High attention to detail
    • Ability and desire to coach and mentor team members
    • Strong communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to adapt communication to your audience
    • Demonstrated analytical approach to problem solving / trouble shooting
    • Proven ability to be creative and execute network solutions
    • Demonstrated experience in process improvement
    • Travel approximately 5-10% may be needed at times

    Job Accountabilities

    a. Ensure service delivery of enterprise communications platforms and technical services.

    b. Assist with and develop architectural designs for solutions to optimize security, reuse, integration, performance, and availability and ensure solutions developed adhere and aligns to the delivered architecture.

    c. Ensure service level agreements are appropriate and being met and solutions remains current with industry best practices, technologies and with Wellmark's standards. Ensure monitoring of communications systems and services to identify and solve data communication and user performance issues.

    d. Consult and influence technology teams regarding solutions. Collaborate with leadership as requested to design and implement effective technology solutions, while using innovative business and technology processes to identify and implement improvement initiatives.

    e. Will oversee and lead planning, developing and implementing technical solutions. When appropriate, collaborate and work with other technical teams in to better provide subject matter expertise and insights.

    f. Develop technical standards and roadmaps that enable the transition of Wellmark's systems from current state to future requirements. Will collaborate with technology teams to provide insight/direction regarding process improvements.

    g. Oversee, review and provide technical guidance on the design efforts of Wellmark's supported solutions including but not limited to the evaluation of vendors during the selection process, integrating with new vendors, design, implementation and administration.

    h. Will provide training and mentorship of others regarding design, implementation, management and support of technology solutions.

    i. Build strong relationships and business acumen with the business to ensure engineers and administrators are aligned with business needs. Provide exceptional customer service and solutions.

    j. Develops and applies industry best practice technology, design and methodology approaches to design system architecture. Researches and recommends new emerging technologies, techniques and tools that will add value to the organization.

    k. Make recommendations regarding the enhancements of the overall security posture of technology platforms and services.

    l. Provide support and troubleshooting of infrastructure and communications services through effective engagement of other technology resources and vendors on a 24x7 basis, as required.

    m. Other duties as assigned.
