  • Job Summary

    Our Market Insights Analyst will be responsible for the analysis of trends and profitability measures by segment, distribution channels, buyer portfolio, benefit trends and financial performance within the business. This individual will conduct quantitative and qualitative research, including needs assessments, conceptualization, proposal development, and data analysis and reporting that drives setting segment strategies. In addition, this individual will conduct competitive intelligence research (e.g., market and data analysis, reporting), identify opportunities and gaps within our market, and offer suggestions for enhancements to existing products/services or for potential new products/services.

They’re effective at distilling large amounts of information into a “story” with actionable results and enjoy influencing the development and delivery of customer-focused solutions.     Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

    • Bachelor’s Degree or direct and applicable work experience.
    • 1+ years’ experience independently collecting and analyzing data, conducting research, and developing actionable results that support stakeholder decision making in an Insurance, Financial Services, or similar corporate environment. Must be able to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability collect, summarize, review data, develop recommendations, and relay the “story” to stakeholders. Ability to independently conduct research as appropriate.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to express complex concepts clearly and concisely.
    • Ability to interact with senior leadership and key decision makers.
    • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Flexible and adaptable to change.

    Hiring Specifications Preferred

    • Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Experience in Market Analysis, Competitive Intelligence, Data or Financial Analysis, or related role.
    • Experience with corporate financial measurement and reporting; including corporate ledger or accounting principles knowledge.

    Job Accountabilities

    a. Develop and compile internal and external data to analyze the performance of Wellmark market segments. Will support Segment Performance initiatives by analyzing trends and profitability measures by segment, distribution channels, buyer portfolio, benefit trends and financial performance within the business.

    b. Proactively provide insights, recommendations, and futurestate initiatives to Product and Segment Performance teams. Will perform complete reviews of key performance indicators, measures, and product and marketing goals to provide direction on how to achieve success.

    c. Participate in developing strategic recommendations to support Segment Performance and Product Development strategies, by conducting quantitative and qualitative research. Including needs assessment, conceptualization, proposal development, data analysis and reporting.

    d. Monitor and report progress toward achievement of corporate satisfaction measures member, employer, provider and producer/agent. Work with cross functional teams to recommend appropriate course of action for improvement.

    e. Perform enrollment forecasting functions including model development, trends, and analyze environmental circumstances that effect enrollment. Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand and assist with developing financial impacts from sales and new enrollment.

    f. Conduct competitive intelligence research including market and data analysis and reporting including the identification of key opportunities and gaps within our market to support Segment Performance and Product Development.

    g. Collaborate with key stakeholders to define competitive intelligence needs and ensure relevant and accurate intelligence assessments are analyzed, reviewed and distributed to appropriate stakeholders.

    h. Use statistical software applications to analyze data and results from research formulate key opportunities and gap analysis based on research findings. Identify key opportunities for enhancements to existing products and services or potential for new products and services and to assess the threat of competitor actions.

    i. Participate in annual planning with the Segment Performance teams to identify any data needed to support key initiatives.
