  • Job Summary

    What's the role? We're looking for someone who has a passion for large data sets and analyzing these sets to gain insights and create efficiencies to better meet our customer's needs. This role currently focuses on operational key performance indicators and optimization analysis. You will provide consultative business optimization analysis, integrated reporting and analytical support to internal and external stake holders. Provide complete, accurate, and timely information to drive continuous improvement. In collaboration with other Business analytics team staff, perform analysis, summarize results and develop conclusions for project teams, leaders, and internal and external stakeholders. Lead and participate in the development and maintenance of business intelligence tools and applications and standard reporting business rules that drive decision making efforts for all internal and external stakeholders.


    What does it take to make the cut? At least four years of experience analyzing data, presenting conclusions, and recommending solutions based on the insights as well as developing reports to better analyze the data. Ideal candidates must have strong communication skills to be successful in this role; you will be expected to interact with various leaders throughout the organization as well as a plethora of stakeholders throughout the business.

    Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or direct applicable work experience
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience
      • Optimizing business functions through data analysis, insight generation, and recommended actions.
      • Creating KPI reporting/dashboards through data pulls, data cleansing, and building visualizations. 
    • Demonstrated communications skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively analyze data and articulate clear recommendations
    • Strong interpersonal skills, but the ability to develop relationships of collaboration and trust
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Demonstrated critical thinking skills 

    Hiring Specifications Preferred

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
    • Prior experience government healthcare related programs (Federal Employee Program, Medicare, Medicaid.) 
    • Prior experience in python, r, and visualization tools such as Tableau, QLIK, or MS Power BI 

    Job Accountabilities

    a. Extract, analyze, interpret and integrate data including using internal and external data sources to develop intelligence packaging to draw conclusions and support recommendations made to stakeholders that will help to achieve their business goals. Apply appropriate datamining concepts for the task using appropriate methodologies.

    b. Collaborate and consultant with internal and external stakeholders in identifying reporting objectives and develops reports and analyses to meet their needs and drive Wellmarks value proposition to stakeholders. Partner with external vendors for the definition, design, execution, and maintenance of data extracts to ensure critical business requirements are met and maintained.

    c. Responsible for analysis of financial and health data, including algorithms and multifaceted analyses to determine health care expenditures, medical and economic outcomes, and cost containment strategies. Acts as lead on large, complex projects. Studies trends, medical management, claims, and health economics, calculates cost/benefit ratios, and forecasts health care utilization and costs. Interprets results and makes recommendations based on findings for the development of cost containment strategies, and for the design and development of provider networks, disease management programs, and products.

    d. Lead and collaborate with the Business analytics team in meeting the reporting needs of stakeholders by building relationships and obtaining voice of the customer feedback through project participation and data analysis. Apply expertise in the use of appropriate clinical/financial methodologies to provide risk adjusted information to stakeholders for various analyses and convey the strength and limitation differences to others.

    e. Collaborate with external vendors on the definition, design and execution and maintenance of data extracts to meet critical business requirements. Accountable for the integrity of the data and business intelligence infrastructures.

    f. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and support corporate process improvement initiatives, meeting aggressive timeframes. Lead and/or participate in crossfunctional projects to optimally support the business needs of the Business analytics team Department. Participate in process improvement activities to meet evolving Business analytics team requirements.

    g. Provide businessside guidance for the development, design, and implementation of data initiatives, such as the data warehouse, data consumption layer, etc.

    h. Independently complete reports and analytic tasks. Assist with and support complex reports and analytic tasks including limited statistical analysis, data modeling, optimization, what if analyses, and other analytical techniques.

    i. Provide peer review and coaching to other Informatics Analysts in Business Analytics.

    j. Other duties as assigned.
