    About Us: Wellmark’s Health Care Sustainability team focuses on built environment, community-based initiatives to assist Iowans and South Dakotans in living healthier lives and improving their underlying fundamental health. This work is critical to ensuring greater quality of life and mitigating increases in health care costs long term.

     

    We’re hiring a Health Data Analyst to assimilate data (public and business specific) to provide guidance on future initiatives as well as help determine effectiveness of existing and completed endeavors. The incumbent plays a key role in coordinating and executing the analysis of business intelligence research and provide technical reporting and analytic support to internal and/or external stakeholders. Provide business insights to support strategic business decisions, while compiling and summarizing data for project teams, leaders, and other internal and/or external stakeholders that is accurate, timely, and reasonable.

    Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

    • Bachelor’s Degree.
    • Less than 1 year of related work experience with research (primary/secondary) or data analysis. Ability to translate information into insights that support business decisions and initiatives.
    • Natural curiosity and business intuition with strong analytical, research, and problem solving skills. Ability to independently retrieve and analyze data/outcomes/research and relay key findings or recommendations to stakeholders.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information to varying audiences. Group facilitation skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish business relationships and influence others.
    • Proven ability to continuously improve processes from identification to implementation.
    • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task priorities. Flexible and adaptable to change.

    Hiring Specifications Preferred

    • Master’s Degree.
    • 1+ year of related experience:
      • In a clinical, health services research, epidemiology, finance or similar setting within the health care industry.
      • Research, business insights/intelligence, or related role, including the interpretation of complex data sets - e.g., outcomes, trends, assessment of benchmark data.
    • Strong consultation skills.

    Job Accountabilities

    a. Compile and conduct comprehensive, collaborative analysis. Produce accurate and concise compilation of the analysis, providing implications and recommendations as appropriate to senior leaders and key decision makers both internal and external to the company.

    b. Assist Sustainability Team leadership in identifying, planning, coordinating, facilitating and evaluating initiatives designed to mitigate spend and trend.

    c. Understand and integrate primary and secondary health care data from multiple internal and external resources to effectively address business questions/problems in a way that demonstrates value to stakeholders both internal and external.

    d. Work collaboratively with the team to understand processes/programs and all components developed by the team and vendors. Build sub processes/programs in partnership with leadership and team to identify and collect outcome measures.

    e. Participate in cross-functional team meetings both internal and external. Will apply knowledge and experience of primary and secondary research to provide valid data that helps supports the business in making strategic business decisions.

    f. Maintain a high level of understanding of companywide business operations and objectives, industry knowledge, competitors, and customers.

    g. Other duties as assigned.
