    About the Career: In this role, you will lead and manage a multi-disciplined team in the infrastructure design and development activities to support Wellmark’s journey to the cloud. You will provide leadership, mentoring and direction to Engineers, while ensuring Enterprise Cloud Services meets or exceeds technical and business requirements (performance and reliability). In addition, you will collaborate and partner with Team Leaders & Architects from around the enterprise to create repeatable, automated and real time infrastructure solutions for all Wellmark services (purchased or in-house designed), and provide Level 3 support on all services deployed or created.

    Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

    • Bachelor’s degree or direct and applicable work experience
    • Minimum 7 years’ experience and knowledge in build and release engineering, DevSecOps, and/or automation, as well as a combination of the following:
      • Experience engaging with IT Security for a security focused engineering and development lifecycle.
      • Experience evaluating technical solutions to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
      • Working knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, RDS, S2, Cloudwatch, Cloudformation, Cloudtrail, VPC)
    • Leadership typically gained through a combination of project and informal leadership that demonstrates competencies.
    • Demonstrated ability to be adaptable and adjust effectively to work within new processes, work requirements, etc
    • Proven experience in implementing change management initiatives. 
    • Support innovation and creativity by encouraging your team to accept and resolve challenges.
    • Strong communication skills - written and verbal, to adapting the message to various audiences.
    • Demonstrates a methodical and logical approach to addressing customer needs. While utilizing innovative solutions/designs as appropriate.
    • Self Starter and proactive in approach.
    • Strong collaboration skills with ability to build relationships across technology divisions.
    • Strong decision making skills with the ability to influence and drive change. 
    • Ability to think strategically to communicate and accomplish long-range goals.

    Hiring Specifications Preferred

    • Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud experience

    • Formal leadership experience
    • Previous experience in the health insurance industry

    Job Accountabilities

    a. Provide leadership and day-to-day management of financial and human resources, primarily focusing on employee coaching, development, performance improvement, coordination and budgeting for staff and departments specific functions/services. Support business objectives and produce results that are effective, accurate, and timely and on target to meet HR team and stakeholder needs.

    b. Be a self-driven, reflective Team Leader who hires and enables the development of skilled team members to handle the variety of tasks assigned, through coaching, mentoring, and nurturing new ideas. Provide a strong understanding of service delivery concepts, cloud and cloud services design, strategic and tactical planning, and overall IT Service Management Delivery for Release and Change of Cloud infrastructures.

    c. Oversee the design and construction of a cloud infrastructure that provides 99.99 availability. Partner with Business Units to negotiate Service Level Agreements, and perform problem resolution, escalation, and support activities on a 24 x 7 basis.

    d. Responsible for overall service and technology recovery and business continuity in the event of a disaster. Ensure audit processes are followed and reports delivered to Wellmark leaders and archive as required.

    e. Conduct research activities and testing on the applicability of new integrated system designs, technologies, architectures, and products to recommend innovative solutions enhancing the current system and aligning it with Wellmark's enterprise architectural direction, long-term strategic plans, and migration roadmaps.

    f. Ensure compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, licensing, governance, and contractual requirements by establishing and monitoring effective processes and procedures.

    g. Provide optimal systems performance levels through proactive systems design and engineering practices identifying and resolving cross-capability architectural dependencies, simplification opportunities, and gaps while minimizing costs.

    h. Direct the implementation of cloud enhancements ensuring optimal system performance and reliability, while addressing the requirements of heterogeneous integration, compatibility, security, and business continuity to guarantee scalable solutions.

    i. Design or select applications required for enterprise system level interactions.

    j. Forecast management of technology replacement to better articulate costs for expense control during the multiyear rotation period. Participate with leadership in the budget preparation, purchasing decisions, expense control, and staff management processes.

    k. Make timely recommendations to Wellmark leaders concerning the need for additional resources or personnel so that work schedules and assignments are completed accurately and timely in a multi-shift environment. Lead the development and scheduling of resources and personnel usage including availability monitoring.
