Job Summary

About the Career:  Wellmark is currently recruiting for a Sr Project Manager to join our Program Management Team!  This position will focus on leading projects to migrate Wellmark business to a new core administrative system and operationalize and optimize functionality of the system.  In this role, you will deliver results by leading multiple projects of high scope complexity and the projects will involve multiple cross functional areas. You will provide Project Management services to ensure processes and solutions align with business objectives, while working collaboratively across Wellmark Technology and business units to achieve the stated objectives, measurable goals, and deliverables of these projects.

Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or direct and equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience:
    • Proven experience in project leadership, including managing technology related projects
    • Experience managing multiple projects/executed in various methodologies/or phases. 
    • Knowledge/awareness of different methodologies. 
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve business objectives of multiple complex projects
  • Demonstrates a high degree of ownership and commitment to assigned projects; negotiates the definition of project success with business owners, and hold themselves accountable for project performance
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various project management, process improvement and system development life cycle methodologies
  • Proven skills in building relationships and influencing people across the organization to break down barriers and foster collaboration
  • Demonstrated group facilitation skills, negotiation  skills and presentation skills demonstrated through successful experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate well with multiple levels of the organization
  • Some travel may be required

Hiring Specifications Preferred

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • 5+ yrs. of demonstrated experience managing multiple projects/executed in various methodologies/or phases. 
  • Prior process improvement experience
  • Prior experience in the Healthcare industry
  • Prior experience using agile and waterfall project management methodologies
  • Professional Certification(s) (e.g. Certified Associate in
  • Project Management (CAPM), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Program Management Professional (PgMP), or Project Management Professional (PMP)) 

 

Job Accountabilities

a. Demonstrate the key drivers of project management effectiveness meet deadlines, logically solve problems recognize and mitigate risks, align project priorities to organizational strategy, connect project priorities to organizational goals, leverage the talent and skills of right people and tasks, facilitate consensus among stakeholders, objectively evaluate team members, and understand project interdependencies.

b. Establish and maintain effective partnership with the project business owner and BTS leadership. Practice sound relationship management with business and BTS project team members and stakeholders by demonstrating key techniques in team management.

c. Using Wellmark Project Management methodologies, lead crossfunctional project teams by taking projects from inception through completion facilitate timeliness and schedule for project completion.

d. Facilitate and evaluate the qualitative and quantitative analysis on complex business problems, and determine solutions and best practice to resolve both internal and customer issues. Collaborate with project teams to implement and propose solutions within the scope of own expertise while fully leveraging the expertise of all BTS team members serving the project. Identify, monitor and communicate critical business metrics to ensure project execution success.

e. Analyze and evaluate projects performance and progress and advises project business owner and BTS leadership of status of potential problems. Create action plan for risk mitigation and resolution and seek business owner decisions.

f. Serve as a change agent by applying knowledge and industry best practices of the health care/financial services industries. Assist in aligning change to achieve project objectives.

g. Direct and guide BTS and business project team members, allocating and monitoring tasks in the definition, documentation and execution of all phases of assigned projects. Support and follow BTS software development lifecycle SDLC, operational procedures and standards to achieve stated results of assigned projects.

h. Motivate the team and serve as a coach and mentor to other project managers.

i. Manage vendor activities, including sourcing, contracting, and implementation, of identified vendor involvement through the close of the project. Ensure vendor management responsibilities are understood and accepted by the project business owner and BTS throughout the project and ensure appropriate turnover of vendor responsibilities at the close of the project.

j. Assist project team members and other stakeholders in establishing and maintaining the portfolio operating procedures e.g. prioritization, funding, project management methodology, project tracking tools to ensure consistency and efficiency.

k. Support the integration of project and process roles to enable collaboration of expertise and methodologies to manage and improve processes and project deliveries.

l. Other duties as assigned.
