Job Summary

About the team: You will be working on the Digital Business build team focused on building new applications for Agents, Brokers, Providers, and Small/Large Groups.  Our team has multiple .Net apps, some Java apps, and we’re working through a multi-year migration of our systems to migrate our code base to Angular & Node and move it to Amazon Web Services (AWS). This team is cross-functional, follows Agile development practices, and works closely with other teams throughout the Application Delivery division of Wellmark IT. 

 

About the career:  Wellmark is seeking an IT Solutions Developer to design, develop, test, implement, maintain and document software and systems in support of Wellmark’s business. In this role, you will ensure completed activities meet project specifications, requirements and Wellmark standards. You will also begin to establish and build working relationships with key stakeholders within Wellmark technology and across business units. You will participate in determining alternatives and solutions, and assist with system integrations.

Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

 

  • Associates Degree or direct and applicable work experience
  • 1+ year experience to include a combination of the following:
    • Java, JavaScript, .NET or C# experience
    • SQL experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties
  • Ability to communicate with and coach/mentor team members
  • Ability to set and meet established time-frames while assuring data and information integrity
  • Experience prioritizing and managing time with little direction
  • Previous experience troubleshooting and developing creative technical solutions

Hiring Specifications Preferred

 

  • Associates Degree or higher
  • MEAN Stack development experience – Angular 4, Node.js
  • VB6 or ASP.NET experience (we’re redesigning and migrating some old apps to new Angular/Node applications)
  • Agile / Scrum experience
  • Coaching/mentoring capability

Job Accountabilities

a. Define, maintain, develop and support specific software applications that support Wellmarks business requirements.

b. Analyze, develop, test, implement, document and maintain programs and systems that meet business requirements.

c. Support and adhere to Wellmark software development lifecycle SDLC, operational procedures and development and security standards by following required process.

d. Report status and issues appropriately.

e. Provide production support for research and root cause analysis.

f. Work with internal/external resources to accomplish changes to programs and systems and the coordination of resources. Provide timely and accurate results, and exceptional customer service.

g. Develop and maintain documentation using Wellmark standards.

h. Assist in project proposals, estimates and proofofconcept activities as needed.

i. Participate in fact finding of business and technology processes, to identify potential improvement opportunities.

j. Other duties as assigned.
