Job Summary

About the team:   Data Governance resides within the broader Business Analytics team and works heavily to manage data decisions within both Projects and Application Change Requests (ACRs), as well as to help identify and resolve data issues in production. About the Career:  In this role, you will support the building of business data assets and remediation of production data issues through the utilization of technical tools; such as SAS, Informatica, and using skillsets such as SQL coding / programming and analysis. You will  assist in raising data quality and the performance level of data assets. In addition, you will work in conjunction with stakeholders to provide data profiling, data integrity metrics and dashboards, as well as set up automated critical element checks to ensure data quality both in testing and in production. You will perform analysis to help identify, quantify, and localize data problems and assist in formulating a solution.


Our Ideal Candidate: You have prior experience in the data management field and are familiar with the design and development of data assets within a data warehouse environment, as well as within and between business applications. Your technical skills allow you to assess different data assets and transformation code.  You are data quality conscious, detail oriented, and service minded as you support many internal customers at any given time.



Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

  • Bachelor’s degree or direct and applicable work experience
  • Minimum 1+ years’ experience:
    • Analytics experience - analysis, mappings, modeling, designing and implementing quality data management solutions working closely with key business stakeholders
    • Business intelligence tools experience - SQL and/or Business Objects and/or metadata tools such as Tableau
  • High attention to detail
  • Communication skills – written and verbal
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to problem solve and come up with “out of the box” options or solutions
  • Analytical

Job Accountabilities

a. Assist in the defining high level and detailed Business Requirements. Will support the Data Steward during data impact and code scan reviews, and will help respond to questions related to the quality of data sources and business metadata.

b. Perform Data Profiling and analysis to provide descriptive statistics and insights in order to aid other Data Governance and Technology resources in defining data requirements, the design of data assets, the creation of Source to Target documentation, testing, and the development of technical and business metadata.

c. Assist in implementation and maintenance of Business Metadata by entering new and/or updating existing business/logical names, definitions and valid values in the business metadata repository. Maintain Technical Metadata from source to target data mappings in metadata repository. Communicate business metadata changes when data assets are released to production.

d. Support the development of data assets by entering code translation rules in Cross Reference Tables such as STAR, CDMA and Informatica RDM used during ETL processing.

e. Provide assistance to the data steward during Source to Target reviews, Design Reviews or Code Reviews as needed.

f. Support testing of data asset changes, including SIT System Integration Testing and UAT User Acceptance Testing. Support the remediation of data issues in testing and production through data analysis when appropriate.

g. Develop, publish and maintain Data Quality Scorecards in collaboration with the Data Stewards in order to automate the collection and monitoring of critical data elements. Create Data Quality Trend Statistics and identify potential data quality risks to lead Data Governance Analysts.

h. Identify potential data quality issues found through Data Quality Scorecards or Data Profiling. Provide support in the triage, impact analysis and resolution of data quality issues as needed by data steward or technology resources.

i. Develop tools to support the building and maintenance of data assets such as Testing or Reporting tools needed by other Data Governance or Analytics resources. Will work with SQL programming and in applications such as SAS and Informatica to help create efficiencies and better business processes.

j. Keep informed, support and adhere to regulations and processes including Wellmarks software development lifecycle SDLC, data warehouse requirements / standards, Data Governance policies and procedures and business analysis and reporting protocols.
