Job Summary

About the team:  This position is located within one of our “Build” teams of our “Plan, Build, Run” model for Application Development at Wellmark.  This team creates new development and works with numerous 3rd party applications.

 

About the Career:  Continue your developer career with Wellmark as a Lead IT Solutions Developer focused on our care management, benefit, and product systems.  In this role, you will conduct systems analysis, design, and maintenance which support Wellmark’s business and Wellmark Technology applications. You will lead analysis and programming related to systems analysis, design, integration and maintenance to support Wellmark’s business and Wellmark Technology applications. In addition, you will build relationships with Wellmark leaders and act as consultant on business process improvements and technology enhancements or capabilities.  You will create application low-level design and have be expected to lead a matrixed development team.

Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and applicable work experience
  • 7+ years’ experience to include any combination of the following:
    • Object oriented programing experience
    • C#, ASP.NET, SQL, Powershell, jQuery, Typescript, Java
    • Design experience
    • Providing innovative solutions to complex issues
    • Of which, a minimum of 1 year of experience in application development and technical business analysis
  • Ability to mentor/coach others
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties
  • Ability to set and meet established time-frames while assuring data and information integrity
  • Experience prioritizing and managing time with little direction
  • Previous experience troubleshooting and developing creative technical solutions
  • Ability to communicate with and coach/mentor team members
  • Demonstrated experience in software development life cycle methodologies

Job Accountabilities

a. Lead system development and programming for highly complex programs. Coordinate the preparation, coding, testing, and debugging of complex programs including the analysis and development of work flows.

b. Implement innovative and cost-effective business solutions for multiple applications and systems, utilizing information technology, business and industry trends.

c. Provide training and guidance to programmers. Possesses advanced knowledge of several programming languages, including current complex languages.

d. Analyze, develop, test, implement, document and maintain software and systems that meet Wellmark's evolving business needs.

e. Provide production support for complex research and root cause.

f. Support and adhere to Wellmark software development lifecycle SDLC, operational procedures and development and security standards by following required process.

g. Coordinate with company resources to accomplish integration of products and processes and complex solutions. Provide timely and accurate results, and exceptional customer service.

h. Provide training and mentoring on how to use new or enhanced software or applications.

i. Mentor and train Wellmark Technology staff on developing and implementing solutions.

j. Participate in project proposals, estimates and proofofconcept activities as needed.

k. Participate in industry/knowledge reference groups and organizational IT related review groups relative to position. Provide direction for enterprise standards. Conduct code reviews and monitor standard adherence.

l. Report issues and status to leader.

m. Other duties as assigned.
