Job Summary

About the Career: In this role, you will serve as an integral part of Wellmark’s User Experience Design team.  The Sr UX Designer is responsible for designing customer facing digital products, including responsive websites and mobile applications that drive our digital and user experience strategy into the future. In addition, you are accountable for balancing user and business needs with product requirements and technical constraints, and transforming that understanding into user-focused, intuitive interfaces for mobile and web. 


Our Ideal Candidate: You are fluent in user-centered design best practices; including journey mapping, conceptualizing, wireframing and prototyping interactions and are an expert in articulating design decisions to all levels of business stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications Required (all must be met to be considered)


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design or related field or direct and applicable work experience
  • A minimum of 5+ years designing, executing and advocating user experience principles / methodologies, sketching, wireframe and mockup creation experience
    • Including Track record of applying common user centered design practices and tools to solve tough design problems
    • Ability to prototype what you design
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
    • Passion for Design and User Experience
    • Experience with user research and testing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex information with varied audiences.
  • Ability to make recommendations for improving design concepts. 
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and process improvement skills
  • Ability to succinctly document work results/findings and final recommendations. Includes the ability to define key metrics to measure initiative success.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish business relationships and influence others.

Hiring Specifications Preferred



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design
  • Prior experience with Axure software, or Sketch
  • Presentation skills (Technology and Business presentations)
  • Experience with Agile Scrum SDLC preferred

Job Accountabilities

a. Responsible for conceptualizing and executing visual and UX design for a variety of channels. In collaboration with Stakeholder Experience and other business stakeholders, will work with stakeholders to gather and understand business and future requirements, and translate into fully articulated user experience concepts.

b. Plan, design, and enhance the user experience of Wellmark applications. Identify gaps in existing user experiences and make recommendations for improvement.

c. Responsible for the development of process flows, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups, and detailed UI and visual design specifications. Validates designs through reviews, usability testing and direct interaction with users and product managers.

d. Identify industry best practices for user experience and ensure that they are leveraged throughout organization to address business and user goals.
